After lots of rumored, the Chinese company Xiaomi has announced the company’s first tablet – the MiPad tablet at an initial price of about $240 for the 16GB variant and $270 for the 64GB variant. The tablet comes in white, blue, green, yellow and pink colours and there is no word on the market launch. It is a plastic version of the iPad Mini according to the design and even has the same screen size and resolution. The tablet measures 135.4 x 202.1 x 8.5mm and weighs 360 grams – a little thicker & heavier than Apple’s tablet.
Xiaomi MiPad powered by 2.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 SoC processor “4+1” core CPU along with 192-core PC-class Kepler GPU and it runs on Android based MiUI ROM for tablets. It features a 7.9-inch display with a high resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels at 326ppi density with 4:3 aspect ratio and gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it.
On the inside, there is 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage with microSD expansion of up to 128GB, packs 6,700mAh battery and stereo speakers. It is equipped with 8MP rear-camera with 5-elements lens, Sony BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 5MP front-facing camera with OmniVision sensor and f/2.0 aperture. It has connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
