At the company’s Mi Pop event in Mumbai, Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra announced the launch of Mi VR Play headset in India at a price tag of Rs. 999. It will go on sale on mi.com starting from December 21st at 12:00 P.M. There are limited edition Mi VR Play headsets with colourful designs that will be up for sale. Originally, it was launched back in August 2016 in China. Along with VR headset, Xiaomi also launched the Mi Live live streaming app in India and it can be downloaded from Google Play Store for free.
The Xiaomi Mi VR Play headset has a zipper design which means you phone doesn’t fall out when moving from the headset. The VR headset made by using Lycra fabric (nylon + spandex) and EVA that is lightweight, skin-friendly and doesn’t cause discomfort when using it for longer period. The headset has a dimension of 201 x 107 x 91 mm and the smartphone with screen size between 4.7 to 5.7-inches can be easily fitted in it. The Mi VR Play headset is Google Cardboard compatible, and it allows users to view 360-degree YouTube videos and Mi Live live streams.

The Mi VR Play comes with anti-reflective lens for image clarity, and its optical-grade aspheric lens has a high tolerance interval of 0.01mm. It also features a textured metal button which when pressed, a silicone button inside makes direct contact with the smartphone.
