Sony has announced the company’s latest flagship tablet in the Z series – Xperia Z2 tablet in India at an initial price tag of INR 49,990. Originally, it was introduced at MWC 2014 and it will compete against Apple iPad Air and Samsung’s high-end tablets. It is touted as the world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof Android slate and it looks like Sony has soft released the tablet by simply listing it on it’s official website. Currently it is available on official website of Sony and on online retailer Infibeam.
On the specifications front, it has 10.1-inch Full HD Triluminous display powered by X-Reality Mobile Engine , it has resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and scratch-resistant glass with Anti fingerprint coating. It is powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor which coupled with Adreno 330 GPU and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony’s customized UI layer on top.
It is world’s slimmest and lightest water and dust resistant tablet, measuring just 6.4mm in thickness. Under the hood, it has 3GB of RAM and 16GB in-built memory which can be expanded further via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it features a 8.1-megapixel rear-camera with EXMOR RS sensor and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
For entertainment, it is equipped with Sony’s native media apps including Walkman and Movies. It also features stereo speakers with Surround audio technology.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet offers connectivity features like 4G LTE, 2G HSPA+, Wi-FI, Bluetooth 4.0, MHL 3.0, NFC, USB 2.0 and GPS.
It packs 6,000mAh battery and according to the company, it delivers 11 hours of browsing over Wi-Fi and 13 hours of video playback.
