Sony Mobile has announced the new version of Xperia M2 – the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua (D2403, D2406). It comes in Black and White colours and it would launch in Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe starting Autumn 2014. This is the first mid-range smartphone from Sony that uses waterproofing technology. There are no details on the pricing.

It is a smartphone that lets customers take the best of Sony technology and entertainment with them wherever they go – come rain or shine – and we are excited to bring it to market.”
On the specifications front, it has 4.8-inch capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels & has pixel density of 230ppi and it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is paired with Adreno 305 GPU. It has 1GB RAM and 8GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it has 8-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash, red-eye reduction and a 1.1MP front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling.
It has connectivity features like NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, NFC and Wi-Fi.
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua weighs 149 grams and has dimensions of 140 x72 x 8.6 mm.
It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and packs 2,330mAh battery non-removable battery that lasts up to 12 hours of talktime and has 641 hours of standby time.
It has Sony’s signature OmniBalance design and has IP65/68 waterproof rating & IP65 dustproof rating.
