Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Pioneer P4 smartphone in India. This update comes with new features like wireless printing, support for emojis and more, new homescreen layout, update for Amigo Paper, Game Zone and more. Other changes include the addition of two games – Hitout Heroes and TexasPoker and the removal of two games – World Cricket Champion and Real Football.
The company said in a statement,
“We are delighted to announce, that keeping true to our promise of bringing the very best of Android experience to all Gionee smartphones, we have released an OTA update to bring the Gionee Pioneer P4 up to the paces with the latest and greatest in the Android world with Android 4.4 KitKat.”
Originally, Gionee Pioneer P4 announced back in April with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Android 4.4 KitKat update is about 808MB and it is rolling out over-the-air (OTA). To update Gionee Pioneer P4 to latest OS, go to Settings >> About Phone >> System updates and check for updates, if you haven’t received the update notification.
If you do not know, the Gionee Pioneer P4 offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support, and features a 4.5-inch TFT display with FWVGA (480×854 pixels) resolution. It is powered by quad-core MediaTek (MT6582V) processor which clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 8GB in-built storage which can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It has connectivity options that includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ AGPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G and packs 1800mAh battery.

- Theme and wallpaper will be reset to default after system update, but data will not be lost. Simply re-apply chosen theme and wallpaper
