Taiwanese device maker Oplus has launched the Oplus XonPhone 5 smartphone in India at an initial price tag of Rs. 7,999. The smartphone will be exclusively available through online marketplace Snapdeal starting Thursday in Silver, Grey and Gold colour. The back of the smartphone resembles with Samsung Galaxy S5, and has a similar faux leather pattern. Oplus India, a subsidiary of Oplus Taiwan, had launched the XonPad 7 tablet in January. The Oplus XonPhone 5 will compete with Motorola Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106, Asus Zenfone 4 and Xiaomi Redmi 1S.
Commenting on the launch, Soumitra Gupta, CEO, Oplus, said,

It features a 5.0-inch HD IPS display based on one-glass-solution with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at 320ppi. It is powered by quad-core MediaTek (MT6582) processor which clocks at 1.3GHz and paired with Mali-400 GPU. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it features a 8-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies & video-calling.
Oplus Xonphone 5 measures 143 x 71.5 x 7.8mm & weighs 170 grams. It has Dual SIM support, one micro-SIM & other normal SIM. It comes with connectivity features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, AGPS, EDGE, GPRS and 3G connectivity options.
It is fuelled with 2,000mAh battery with 15 hours of talk time and 300 hours standby time. The company offers pick & drop service and claims to have 350 service centres across India.
