[Comparison] Motorola Moto X vs Google Nexus 5

Earlier Motorola Moto X launched in India at an initial price of INR 23,999 and it is exclusively available from online retailer Flipkart in five different color variants. In addition to this, wood black version is also available at an initial price of INR 25,999. Already in previous post, we compared Motorola Moto X with Nokia X, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and now in this post I’m comparing Motorola Moto X with the Google Nexus 5.

The Motorola Moto X has dimensions of 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4 mm whereas the Google Nexus 5 has dimensions of 137.84 x 69.17 x 8.59 m and according to dimensions, the Motorola Moto X is slightly thicker than the Google Nexus 5

Display

The Motorola Moto X features a 4.70-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass whereas when compared with the Google Nexus 5 features a 4.95-inch True FHD IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Processor

The Motorola Moto X powered by Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Snapdragon with dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.7GHz whereas the Google Nexus 5, has a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 with a 2.3GHz quad-core processor.

Memory

Both devices comes with 2GB RAM and has same internal storage of 16GB/32GB

Software

The Motorola Moto X runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat whereas the Google Nexus 5 is the first device announced with the Android 4.4 Kitkat and runs on the version 4.4.2.

Cameras

The Motorola Moto X feature a 10-megapixel rear-camera with autofocus & LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera whereas the Google Nexus 5 features a 8-megapixel rear-camera with OIS, autofocus & LED flash and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Battery

The Motorola Moto X packs by a 2,200mAh battery which lasts for 13 hours of talk time & 576 hours of standby time whereas the Google Nexus 5 packs 2,300mAh battery which lasts for 17 hours of talk time & 300 hours of standby time. The battery on Nexus 5 struggles to survive the day but the battery on Motorola Moto X lasts for one day.

Extras

Both the devices feature similar connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G. The Google Nexus 5 has better hardware whereas the Motorola has better software as it comes with Active Display. Also, pre-loaded Migrate app allow users to transfer data such as videos, photos, contacts and also the call log and text messages from any android 4.2 based smartphones. In addition to this, the Touchless control allows to listen what you say.

GadgetGuide4U Opinion

The Motorola Moto X and the Google Nexus 5 are mid-range smartphone but when compared the Google Nexus 5 is much better than the Motorola Moto X in terms of specifications along with a pure Android OS experience.
