Micromax India’s 2nd largest smartphone player has launched the Unite 2 A106 smartphone in India at an initial price of INR 6,999 and at the same price Motorola announced the Moto E on 14th May. At sub 7K range, both devices are real competitor and for your information, Micromax Unite 2 A106 is the first Micromax smartphone that ships with Android KitKat. It will be available across all leading retail outlets in India from today and it comes in four vivid colours – grey, white, red and green. Another highlight of the smartphone is that, it is the first smartphone that supports 21 languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and others.
Commenting on the launch, Shubhodip Pal, CMO, Micromax said,
“India is a diverse country and language at times can act as a barrier for people to seamlessly communicate on their phones. Therefore, we firmly believe that support for local languages on phones will perhaps be the next big driver for day to day phone transactions, internet usage and online content consumption in India given that most of the population does not use English as their primary language.” He further added, “With the launch of the Micromax Unite 2, our aim is to enable local customization to serve the unique needs of Indian consumers across multiple markets. We aim to create a powerful medium for our consumers to interact, engage, entertain and connect in their preferred language to remove any barrier for technology adoption for the masses in the country”.
The Micromax Unite 2 sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with 800 x 480 pixels of resolution, it is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and has 4GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it has 5MP rear-camera with flash and 2MP front-facing camera. It also packs in camera features such as beauty mode, live photo mode and panorama.
It packs 2000mAh battery and comes with usual connectivity options which include Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.It is a dual-SIM smartphone and runs on the latest 4.4.2 KitKat OS & the company claims that it can be easily upgraded via FOTA, offering features including voice search, Google Drive, Hangouts for video calls, smart contact prioritization and more.
The Micromax smartphone comes pre-loaded with apps like Mad, Getit, Kingsoft Office, Opera Mini Browser and Hike. There are few pre-loaded games like Marble, Burn the Rope, Toystory Smash.
