Lava has launched the company’s latest budget smartphone – the Lava Iris X1 in India at an initial price of INR 7,999 and it comes in Black and White colours & with a free intelligent Flip that puts the phone automatically to sleep mode when it is closed. It is exclusively available from Amazon India (Amazon.in) from 27th May and comes with free 16GB Ultra MicroSD card for those pre-orders the phone on 27th May. In the sub-8,000 price range, Lava Iris X1 will give a tough competition to the recently announced Motorola Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106 and Micromax Canvas Engage A091 as all these devices powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

On the specifications front, it features a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display with resolution of 480 x 854 pixels at 217ppi, it is powered by 1.2Ghz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor coupled with Videocore IV GPU. It has 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it has 8MP rear-camera with BSI sensor, dual LED flash, Multi-Element Lens, 1.4µm Pixel Size. The sensor increases the amount of light that gets captured and improves low-light photography and supports 1080p video recording. It also includes 2MP front-facing camera for selfie & video calling. It is just 8.9mm thick and had similar design as the Iris Pro series. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
Lava Iris X1 comes with new phone app and it automatically prioritizes contacts based on the people a user talks to the most & its smart caller ID looks for matches from businesses with local listing on Google Maps. In addition to this, it provides an excellent 3D gaming experience & video performance with the help of a specialized graphics engine based on Videocore multimedia technology. The device promises crystal clear calling experience by using Dual MIC for Active Noise Cancellation.
In terms of connectivity, the dual SIM X1 supports usual connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB and EDGE. It also supports USB On-the-Go capabilities that are missing on the Moto E. It is fuelled with 1,800mAh battery which provides ample time for payback, talk-time and stand-by.
