HTC has launched the company’s latest flagship smartphone – HTC U12+ at a starting price tag of US $799. The smartphone comes in Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black, & Flame Red colours, and it is available for pre-order in the U.S. & Europe. The smartphone will be shipping later this month or early next month depending on the region. The HTC U12+ available in two variants – 64GB internal storage cost US $799 while the 128GB internal storage variant cost US $849. The HTC U12+ is the successor of last year HTC U11+ and brings several improvements including a camera. The smartphone will compete against Samsung Galaxy S9+, Huawei P20 Pro, LG G7 ThinQ, and OnePlus 6.

On the specifications front, the HTC U12+ features 6-inch QHD+ Super LCD 6 display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio at 537ppi of pixel density, support for HDR10, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The HTC U12+ is powered by 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor which is paired with 6GB of RAM. The HTC U12+ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with HTC Sense UI on top of it and it has 64GB/128GB internal storage which can be expanded further up to 2TB via microSD card.

On the camera side, the HTC U12+ features dual camera setup on the front & back. The setup on the rear has a 12MP wide-angle with HTC UltraPixel 4, f/1.75 aperture lens, OIS along with a 16MP Telephoto sensor with a f/2.6 aperture. The dual rear camera setup on the HTC U12+ also includes PDAF (phase detection autofocus), laser focus (combined to be called UltraSpeed Autofocus 2 by the company), and 2x optical zoom as well as 10x digital zoom. Further, the smartphone has OIS, HDR Boost 2, dual-LED flash, and AR sticker support. There is also dual 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view, Bokeh mode, AR sticker, Face unlock and more.

HTC U12+ Features

The HTC U12+ features a 3D glass body with ultra-thin borders and it has Edge Sense 2 that lets you Squeeze to access apps or control the phone. You can squeeze the edge of the handset to capture photos, launch voice assistants, or use the Edge Launcher. Additionally, the smartphone comes with pressure-sensitive buttons that offer haptic feedback and work similar to the Touch ID button that Apple introduced on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. These new buttons work just as traditional keys and the power button even work when the phone is switched off. The smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor on the back and it is water & dust resistance with IP68 ratings.
