BlackBerry Announces Z30 Smartphone: Features 5-inch Super AMOLED Display, 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Processor, Runs BB10.2 out of the Box

BlackBerry has officially announced  its new Z30 flagship smartphone. The BlackBerry Z30 is the first smartphone to ship with the company’s latest version BB 10.2 OS. The Z30 smartphone has the largest display and battery yet for a BlackBerry phone. With the launch of Z30 smartphone BlackBerry eying on to win back market share despite uncertainty around its future.

The new BlackBerry Z30 smartphone features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (295ppi) and 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with “quad-core graphics”. The new BB phone comes with 2GB RAM and Adreno 320 GPU for faster performance. There’s also a better 2,880mAh battery inside.

In terms of dimensions, it measures 140.7 x 72 x 9.4mm and it will weigh 170g.  The BlackBerry Z30 supports 4G LTE as well as dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.  It can also act as a DLNA server. The Z30 smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card capable of expanding that by up to a further 64GB.

On the camera side Z30 holds an 8MP rear camera with an f/2.2 lens and 1080p video recording capabilities, a 2-megapixel front facer camera capable of 720p video.

The Z30 also features stereo speakers, BlackBerry Natural Sound technology (as part of BB 10.2) to enhance BBM Voice and Chats clarity, new antenna technology which allow improved reception in low signal areas and faster data and the BlackBerry Priority Hub.

The BlackBerry Z30 smartphone runs on company’s latest BB 10 OS version 10.2 out of the box. It brings some improvements including BB Priority Hub, brings ability to preview messages throughout the UI and on the lockscreen as well as Wi-Fi Direct support, multiple alarms and standard Unicode emojis. BBM messages can even be directly replied to from whatever app a user is in.

Here is a good news also for BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 users, BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 users won’t be left out of 10.2 either, the company will be launching the BB 10 version 10.2 update in mid-October.

As for now we don’t have any pricing or exact release information of the Z30, but the Z30 is expected to hit the UK and Middle East sometime next week. A Christmas pre-holiday rollout is expected for the US and other regions. We’ll keep you posted when more information becomes available.
