BlackBerry’s CEO Thorsten Heins announced last month on May 14 that the BBM service will available as a third-party app to the two most popular smart platforms – iOS and Android. Since the day BlackBerry announced its plans to make BBM a multi-platform mobile service, there has been a buzz in tech circles about the launch date. This time we got something official that BBM for Android would be available before the end of September.
The company has not said anything on its availability but makes a positive nod that the service will be available to Android users by September end. In a launch event of the BlackBerry Q5 in India, Sunil Lalvani, managing director, BlackBerry India, shares some information on the launch plans of the BBM service for Android and iOS. Hesaid, “The service is coming to Android this summer. But summer as per North America, where it remains till September.”
If everything is true about this, we are hardly two months away from getting the BlackBerry’s trademark messanger service BBM on non-BlackBerry smartphones now. Stay tuned for more information.
