Samsung has launched the company’s latest smartphone – Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8+ in India at a price tag of Rs. 57,900 & Rs. 64,900 respectively. The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes in Midnight Black and Maple Gold colour options while the Samsung Galaxy S8+ comes in Midnight Black & Maple Gold, & Coral Blue colour options. Both the smartphone available for pre-order on Flipkart & Samsung Shop, starting from today and the goes on sale starting from May 5th. Originally, both the smartphone announced last month and there are pre-booking offers like free Convertible Wireless Charger worth of Rs. 4,499, Double Data offer on the Jio on recharge of Rs. 309 (28GB+28GB of 4G data over 8 months), rest you can read the full terms and conditions on the website. Apart from the smartphone announcement, Samsung India has also launched the Samsung DeX mobile-to-PC transition tool which cost Rs. 8,999 and there’s no word on the pricing of new Gear VR Headset (with controller) & the new Gear 360 camera.

- Pricing: – On the pricing front, when compared with US pricing, the Galaxy S8 lineup is premium. In the US, the Samsung Galaxy S8 cost US $720 (roughly Rs. 47,000) while the Galaxy S8+ cost US $840 (roughly Rs, 55,000). When you look at the announced pricing of both the smartphone, you can easily see the difference.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+: Features and Differences:
The Samsung Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8+ are mostly identical smartphone and when compared with Galaxy S7 lineup, there is a major upgrade. Above all, the Galaxy S8 lineup borrows some elements from the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, that was announced in India but didn’t go on sale. The primary difference that you find on Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8+ is of dimensions, weight, battery capacity and the screen size of the infinity display.
If we look on the design side, you can easily notice the difference as the fingerprint sensor placed on the rear while there are on-screen home button comes with haptic technology.
Apart from this, the main highlight of the Galaxy S8 lineup is that it comes with Bixby Virtual Assistant. The Bixby Virtual assistant has dedicated hardware button which promised more personalized experience and it enhances the way people interact with their phones & the world around them. At the launch event, the spokesperson said that the virtual assistant will not feature Bixby Voice functionality but it has Bixby Vision, Home and Reminder feature.
Both the smartphone comes preloaded with Samsung Pay, with NFC and MST connectivity. The Samsung Pay feature allows you to store your debit/credit card information on your smartphone and helps you to make payments as the traditional PoS terminals without carrying the actual card.
Other key features of the Galaxy S8 lineup are Always on Display, Iris scanner on the front, facial recognition, and fingerprint sensor & heart rate monitor on the back side. Both the smartphone has IP68 certification for dust and water resistance which means both the smartphone are water resistant up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.
Samsung Galaxy S8:
On the specifications front, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels at 570ppi and to protect from scratches there is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front & the back. The smartphone is powered by Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 9 series processor which is paired with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU & 4GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top of it and it has 64GB internal memory which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.
