At an event in China, Xiaomi has announced the company’s latest smartphone in the Mi 4 series – Xiaomi Mi4c at a starting price tag of 1299 Yuan (US $204). It comes in White, Blue, Yellow & Pink colour with matte finish. The 2GB variant with 16GB in-built memory costs 1499 Yuan while the 3GB variant with 32GB in-built memory costs 1499 Yuan (US $235). It will be available for order in China starting tommrow, September 23rd through mi.com and Tmall.com. There is no word on global roll out yet.
On the specifications front, it features 5-inch display from Sharp, AUO or LG with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it is powered by Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 processor and it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with MIUI 6 on top of it, will get MIUI 7 update soon.
On the imaging front, it features 13-megapixel rear-camera with two-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus and 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens for selfie & video-calling.
It has dual SIM support and connectivity features like 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB Type-C.
It packs 3080mAh built-in battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
Xiaomi will also sell a USB Type-C to micro USB adapter. It also has double tap to wake up the screen and new Edge Touch Technology makes use of a new chip offering sensitive and accurate edge gesture recognition that lets you double tap the side of the phone to go back or a single tap to capture a quick selfie. It also has an infrared sensor that lets you control your TV, DVR and other appliances.
