UMI has announced the company’s latest smartphone – UMI Iron Pro at a price tag of US $179. It is touted as the world’s most secure smartphone and it comes with lot of high end features & touches such as metal body, fingerprint sensor as well as Iris scanner. It has a mono block design as it is made out of a single piece of aircraft grade aluminium.
On the specifications front, it features 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 403 ppi and it is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6753 processor and paired with 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system & it supports wide range of ROMs such as CyanogenMode & MIUI through their UMI Rootjoy feature. It has 16GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 64GB via hybrid nano-SIM slot.
On the imaging front, it features 13 Megapixel rear-camera with a Sony IMX 214 sensor and a maximum aperture of f2.0 & dual LED flash. It has front facing 8 Megapixel camera with LED flash for selfie & video-calling.
For security there is a fingerprint sensor at the back which UMI says takes just 0.32 seconds to unlock the phone and an Iris scanner feature called Eyeprint ID which uses the veins in your eyes to recognise you.
It has 2 nano-SIM card slots and connectivity features like 4G LTE, dual band wi-Fi, etc.
It packs 3100mAH battery.
It is 7.9mm thin and weighs 148 grams. , The headphone amplifier and the light strip at the bottom front for notifications.
