Finally, the much awaited Sony Xperia Z2 comes to India. Smartphone maker Sony has launched its latest flagship device, the Xperia Z2 at an event in New Delhi. Sony Xperia Z2 will be a premium segment device in India for a MRP of Rs 49,990 and will be available from May 12. Sony Xperia Z2 was unveiled at the MWC in February this year. The Xperia Z2 offers a major upgrade to last year’s flagship, Sony Xperia Z1, especially the camera and hardware has gotten a definite boost. Sony’s latest flagship smartphone Xperia Z2 competes against the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8).
The Sony Xpeira Z2 combines Sony’s best design, display, sound, camera and camcorder experience. The Xperia Z2 features a 5.2-inch screen with a full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) Sony Triluminos LCD display with the X-Reality engine and a layer of glass protecting the screen and back. The smartphone is powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU and boasts of 3GB of RAM, much higher than the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 – that have RAM of 2 GB. The device comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can be expanded to 128GB via a microSD card slot. On the software front, it runs on latest Android OS – Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
One of the highlights of the device is its 20.7-megapixel camera with 4K recording support and host of features including image stabilization. The 20.7 MP resolution camera comes along with 1/2.3-type Exmor RS for mobile CMOS image sensor, Sony’s G Lens, intelligent BIONZ and loaded with Xperia camera apps such as Timeshift video, Creative effect, and AR effect. The ability to record 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels/30p) helps capture four times the detail of Full HD with stereo audio recording. It also packs a 2.2-megapixel front camera.
Sony Xperia Z2 is water-resistant and dust-proof as most Sony flagships of the Xperia series. It is also equipped with digital noise-cancelling capabilities, promising up to 98 percent reduction in ambient noise. The Sony Xperia Z2 has 3,200mAh battery with Sony’s Battery STAMINA Mode for prolonged battery life.

Sony has also launched SmartBand SWR10 along with the Xperia Z2. The SmartBand SWR10 works with Xperia Z2 to log your life in partnership with the Lifelog application, creating an automatic 24/7 diary of your activities entertainments and memories. The Lifelog application is available at Google Play Store. The SmartBand is compatible with Smartphones running on Android 4.4 and above.

Sony Xperia Z2 will be available from May 12th, 2014 onwards at all key retail outlets, Sony Center, Xperia Flagship stores and major electronic stores across India. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 49,990 and will be available in black, white and purple colour.
In addition, the smartphone comes bundled with the Sony SmartBand and a premium Sony case as a limited period offer. The Sony SmartBand can also be purchased separately for a price of Rs. 5,990 across all Sony Center and major electronic stores in India. The SmartBand will be available from 3rd week of May.
Apart from the SmartBand and a premium phone case, Accidental Damage Protection for 6 months and 2GB free data download on Vodafone for 2 months will also be available with the Xperia Z2.
Xperia Z2 users will also enjoy exclusive streaming and download of Michael Jackson’s new album Xscape via the Sony Music Jive application. The tracks will be available from 12th May 2014.
