Samsung has launched the company’s first budget Tizen OS based smartphone – Samsung Z1 in India at a price tag of Rs. 5,700. It comes in White, Black and Wine Red colours and it is available in stores starting January 14. As a promotional offer it comes with 500MB of 3G data free for up to 6 months for Reliance and Aircel users. IN addition to this, it comes with free access to premium content through Club Samsung which has 2,70,000 songs and over 80 live TV channels. It also comes with free access to Hungama music for three months and free nexGTV and Box TV subscription for three months.
Commenting on the launch, Hyun Chil Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India Electronics, said,
“The smartphone market in India is rapidly evolving, with many consumers using their device as their screen of choice for content including videos, television programs and video games, as well as a range of apps. We have customized the Samsung Z1 to meet these unique, entertainment-focused needs of local Indian consumers for a personal and reliable mobile experience.”
On the specifications front, it features 4-inch WVGA PLS screen and it is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor which is paired with 768MB of RAM. It runs on Tizen OS 2.3 and has 4GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 64GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it features 3.1MP rear-camera with LED flash and VGA front-facing camera for selfie & video-calling.
It has dual-SIM support and connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1 &A-GPS.
It packs 1500mAh battery and it comes with Ultra Power Saving Mode which extends battery life.
It comes with SOS alert and with a just a press of the power button four times, it will send out HELP message to the user’s primary contacts and track the user’s location to provide necessary assistance. It also has built-in AntiVirus protection that automatically checks for any viruses when users install an app, check email or receives an SMS.
