The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and Galaxy Gear smartwatch comes to India. The Note 3 smartphone is priced at Rs.49,900, and the Galaxy Gear smart watch has been priced at Rs.22,900, in the domestic market. The Note 3 smartphone and Samsung’s first wearable water-resistant computing device Galaxy Gear smartwatch, will be available for sale in the domestic market from September 25.
Recently, both the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch went up for pre-orders in India on flipkart and Samsung Indian estore.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, unveiled in Berlin earlier this month. The Galaxy Note 3 is the successor to the Galaxy Note II smartphone launched last year. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch which is the first wearable tech device from the South Korean company was also launched at IFA.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features a 5.7-inch full-HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display. It comes in two variants: the LTE-variant powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and the 3G (HSDPA) version powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos processor. However, the company will be launching only the 3G variant in India. The Indian model will run on Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa SoC, which means you won’t get the 4K recording option as on the Snapdragon 800 model to be sold in the US.
The Galaxy Note 3 smartphone includes 3GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera alongside a 2-megapixel front camera, 3,200mAh battery, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and improved stylus functions. The phone is available in 32GB or 64GB internal storage along with an additional microSD card slot. The phone will be available in black, white and pink.
The Galaxy Gear smartwatch features a 1.63-inch (4.14 cm) OLED display and can make calls, display messages, record videos and snap photos with its 1.9-megapixel camera. Samsung says the Gear smartphone can act as an extension to a smartphone that would notify users and give them quick previews of incoming texts, calls and emails on its display screen. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch will offer basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch will come in six colours – Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green.
The Galaxy Gear smartwatch will work as an accessory to select Galaxy smartphones. It would be compatible with most of the Samsung Galaxy devises, and the 10.1 tablet. Users can even make calls, secret agent-style without getting out their phone. The Gear also sports a basic camera and works with popular social media and fitness apps such as Twitter and RunKeeper.
Samsung also announced plans on launching the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition in India which the company would launch in October. No price of Galaxy Note 10.1 has been mentioned so far.
