The Galaxy Gear smartwatch was launched alongside the Galaxy Note 3 at IFA 2013. Samsung had launched the Galaxy Gear in India on September 25, at Rs. 22,990, alongside the Galaxy Note 3. Earlier in January, the Korean giant had dropped the smartwatch’s price to Rs. 19,075. Now another price cut follows it to Rs. 14990. The new price was revealed in a tweet by Mahesh Telecom.
The Galaxy Gear smartwatch features a 1.63-inch (4.14 cm) OLED display and can make calls, display messages, record videos and snap photos with its 1.9-megapixel camera. The price of the Galaxy Gear may drop even further yet, especially as the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is rumored to be launch with Galaxy S5 smartphone. Earlier in January, in a interview with Bloomberg News, Samsung’s mobile executive VP, Lee Young-hee, said a March-April timeline for the launch. According to the Lee Young-hee, the Galaxy S5 will arrive with a brand new version of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.
