Oplus has launched the XonPhone 5 in India at an initial price tag of Rs. 7,999 and it is available exclusively through Snapdeal. It is an affordable smartphone in the sub 10,000 price range and it can easily compete with Motorola Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106, Lava Iris X1, Asus Zenfone 4 and Xiamo Redmi 1S. At the launch event, I managed to spend some time with XonPhone 5 smartphone and based on that time, I’m sharing first impressions with the device.

Design And Build Quality
At a first glance, the smartphone does not look cheap or crappy build. The build quality is pretty good and it is only 7.8mm thick. It weighs 170 grams which is quite bulky for 5-inch device.
The front of the smartphone features a screen and a 2MP front-facing camera on top.
The back panel of the smartphone is laced with perforated plastic finish similar to Samsung Galaxy S5. It has 8-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash and Yamaha speakers at the back.
The top of the smartphone features a 3.5mm jack and charging slot.
There are no physical buttons at the bottom.
The right side of the Oplus XonPhone 5 features a power button key, which can be used to lock, turn-off the smartphone.
The left side of Oplus XonPhone 5 features a volume rocker button which can be used to increase & decrease volume of smartphone.

Display
Oplus XonPhone 5 features a 5-inch HD IPS one-glass-solution display with resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 320ppi. There is no Corning Gorilla Glass protection on it, so you need to add a screen-guard layer to protect the device. The screen has high brightness and offers good viewing experience.

Processor and Memory
XonPhone 5 powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor which is paired with Mali 400 GPU. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card. It’s really hard to comment on the phone’s performance in such a short span of time.
Cameras
Oplus XonPhone 5 sports a 8-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie & video-calling.
Operating System and Battery
The Oplus XonPhone 5 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and it has 2,000mAh battery capacity which lasts up to 15 hours of talk time & 300 hours standby time.
Final Words
Overall the Oplus XonPhone 5 is pretty good, bit heavy with 5-inch screen size. The best part of Oplus XonPhone 5 is its pricing, at such a pricing Oplus packed everything in a single device.
