Finally Lumia Amber update is here — Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia Lumia Amber update has started to roll-out to Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices. That means a wide range of new and improved features and apps, like Nokia Glance Screen with the standby clock and an even better imaging experience and smart camera for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 owners is coming.

Nokia Amber update

The Nokia Lumia Amber update is coming to Lumia 920, 521, 810, 928, 520, 620, 720, and 820 devices. Until now, only the Nokia Lumia 925 owners have enjoyed the features of Nokia Amber update and the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone will run on Windows phone 8 GDR 2 + Amber out of the box.

The rollout starts now for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 initially in selected countries as well as the Lumia 521, 810, and 928 in the US. NOKIA says that the exact timings will vary by region, phone and operator/carrier, but the update is expected to reach all lumia devices by the end of September.

The Amber update brings many features and app like Nokia Glance Screen with the standby clock, a new FM radio player, Nokia smart camera, better image processing, improvements to Xbox music and the Internet Explorer browser. There will be  Flip to Silence, and call and text blocking feature too.

The Nokia Lumia Amber update is rolling out by region, phone and network/carrier, so it may take some days to come to you. You can check for any software update available on your Lumia device as your Nokia Lumia will check periodically for software updates automatically. You can perform a manual check by going to — Settings > Phone Update — and  also check for the availability status of the update in your region on Nokia support pages.
