The Surface Pro 3 has larger screen 12-inch display with resolution of 2160 x 1440 & a 3:2 aspect ratio, it is 9.1mm thinner when compared with earlier version of Surface Pro and weighs 800 grams. The company is pitching it as a laptop replacement device. The Surface pro 3 will go on sale for pre-order on Wednesday (starting today), starting at $799. There are three versions – an Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7. The starting price is for Intel Core i3, the Intel Core i5 costs between $999 to $1,299, depending on storage and RAM. The Intel Core i7 goes up to $1,949 for 512GB of storage and 8GB of onboard RAM.
The Surface Pro 3 runs on Windows 8 operating system and owners can run desktop Windows as well as apps specifically made for tablets. The device features a 12-inch screen and kickstand and supports stylus. In addition, the tablet comes with support for USB 3.0 and Microsoft’s popular Type Covers in multiple colors. The Surface Pro 3 features an Intel Core i3, Core 15 and Core i7 processor to boost its performance by 100% when compared with previous version of Surface Pro. It also comes with a docking station that let you project to 4K monitors and a new Type Cover. The device was placed inside a docking station to show the tablet can technically look like a laptop, and some high-end apps were also shown off which includes a 3D-rendering app and Adobe’s Photoshop.
Although it is powered by Intel processor, but it is a fanless device so it is much more silent which makes it more of tablet than a laptop. A low latency digitiser pen is included and the big selling point is that when you click it, the writing app appears immediately on the tablet. It can also share what is being written or drawn to other Surface Pro 3 devices in the same room.
The Surface Pro 3 speaker are 45% louder when compared with Surface Pro 2. The battery is also get better when compared with last generation and it is said to last between 15 and 20 percent than the ones used in any other Surface device. And a USB 3.0 port is included for high-speed transfer.
Another cool feature of the Surface pro 3 is the new kickstand on the back that allows the screen to sit at a standard, 22-degree angle and go up to near-flat angle of 150-degrees. There will be a 4K-ready dock available so you can plug the tablet directly into a compatible TV or monitor.
A new set of Type Covers have been developed to match the thin design aesthetic. The trackpad has also been redesigned to be more responsive. And the cover snaps to the Surface Pro 3 tightly so it feels like a laptop when in place.
