Microsoft has launched the Lumia 532 Dual SIM in India and on specifications front, it is a decent device. The Microsoft Lumia 532 comes in four colours – orange, green, black and white. I would advise you to choose the colour wisely before purchasing. In this post I’m reviewing Lumia 532 Dual SIM smarphone, this review helps you to buy the device or not.
Design:
The Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual SIM is a bulky and sturdy device and the design language is a combination of Asha series & Nokia X. It fits in palm well and the plastic back panel is better when compared with other smartphones. The back panel is removable but it is tough to remove the back panel at first and you have to read the instructions first how to open it. It has curved rear-panel with matte finish & has sharp edges.
The front panel has 4-inch display and three capacitive touch buttons.
The power button and volume rocker buttons which are on right side are part of the plastic back cover itself.
Display:
The Lumia 532 dual comes with a 4-inch WVGA display and has resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which offers 233 ppi pixel density. The resolution of the display is pretty low but I haven’t found any problem while using it in bright sunlight. The display is pretty good and vibrant. The touch response on the device is excellent. Although, it has a smaller display but the typing was much easier. In addition to this, the phone comes with ambient light sensor and the display offers better performance when compared with other smartphones.
Performance:
The Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual SIM runs on Windows 8.1 OS with Lumia Denim update on top of it and it is the latest software version from Microsoft. With Windows 8.1 OS update, Microsoft has bridged the gap between Android and WP users in terms of features. The Windows 8.1 OS comes with features like notification center, storage sense, Wi-Fi Sense, Data Sense, VPN support, offers customization options and many more features.
As a Windows Phone user, you can easily customzie the start screen with background images and with storage sense you can control & monitor data usage. With storage sense, you can manage the storage and set the default location for saving phones, videos, apps and more on the phone. In addition to this, you can also add third row of tile (if you want more tiles on the display). The phone comes with double tap to wake features, brightness and color profiles along with sunlight readability. The Phone also comes with popular glance screen which shows notification & clock even when the screen is off.
The phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 Quad-Core processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM. The performance is pretty good after using the phone for around 1 month I haven’t found any lag or issue. Above all, the gaming performance is average and if you are gaming freak then this is not the phone you are looking for, as it has very small display. The good thing about the device is that, it doesn’t heat much while playing heavy games and because of 1GB RAM, it will play almost any game, which is available on Windows Phone store. The performance is pretty good even though you open multiple apps, i.e., multi-tasking.
It has dual-SIM support and at the back panel, you can find it has pretty well managed section. The call quality is good and I didn’t find any issues like call drop or any distortion. The speaker volume is also decent and if you listen songs, then the quality is pretty good.
The Lumia 532 Dual SIM comes with 8GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 128GB by using microSD card. The available memory for the user is only 4.5GB and you can install apps on microSD card, isn’t that great? There are some apps available which are exclusive for Lumia devices and above all, the Lumia 532 Dual SIM gets future update, i.e., Windows 10 update later this year.
The device features Cortana and it works only when you change the region and language.
Camera:
The Lumia 532 Dual SIM smartphone comes with 5-megapixel rear-camera with no LED flash and has fixed focus. So, macro photography is out of question and it offers plenty of details, captures colours nicely. Above all, the camera app is quite fast. It also has a VGA front-facing camera for selfie & video-calling.
The photos taken in daylight are pretty good and low-light photos are noisy. The phone also comes with video-recording which is restricted to only 480p and the video capture has noise & lacks details.
Connectivity:
Connectivity wise it is decent phone, it uses dual SIM (microSIM), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi with hotspot feature, and micro USB port. It has 3.5mm jack and FM radio for entertainment. There is GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS for navigation.
Battery:
The phone comes with 1560mAh battery and the performance is good. It comes with removable battery and if you browse, play games, listen music, phone cals, social networking, etc., with these usage I almost get a battery backup of a day (these usage are normal not heavy usage). The battery backup is one of the best aspect of the phone and you can also manage the apps running in the background, which improves the performance.
Verdict:
At a price tag of Rs. 6,499, the Lumia 532 Dual SIM is worth? I think Microsoft should price the device some around 5K, especially when they have tough competition with other manufactures like Xiaomi, Lava and Celkon. The Lumia 532 Dual SIM has pretty good design & build quality and it is much better when compared with other devices. The phone delivers pretty good performance and the weak points of the device are low display & camera performance. In the end, it is the better choice when compared with Lumia 530.
