Japan based company Kyocera has announced a new smartphone – DuraForce Pro and it comes with “Super Wide View” 1080p action camera with 135 degree lens. The Action camera has its own image processor and it is resistant to drops, shocks, dust & water. The smartphone will be available across U.S. in coming months and there is no word on the pricing. The smartphone comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The Kyocera DuraForce Pro smartphone features 135-degree field of view which is similar to dedicated action cams and Kyocera will eventually release a case that supports GoPro-style mounts too. It has slow-motion, sports, action and underwater mode.
For security, DuraForce Pro smartphone comes with fingerprint sensor which is embedded into the power button, built-in encryption and Android for work support. it is also shockproof, drop-proof and rustproof with certification to IP68 (waterproof up to 30 minutes, up to 2 meters deep) and Military Standard 810G for protection against dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, blowing rain, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog, humidity, immersion, temperature shock and icing/freezing rain. It also supports Glove and Wet Touchscreen operation which makes it easy to use even when wet or used with gloved hands.
On the specifications front, it features 5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it is powered by 1.5GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with X8 LTE mode & it is paired with 2GB RAM. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and it has 32GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.
On the photography front, it features 13 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wide View HD Action camera and 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfie & video-calling.
It has connectivity features like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/r/k, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Mobile Hot Spot (for up to ten devices), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Miracast and USB 2.0.
It packs 3240mAh battery and comes with Quick Charge 2.0
