Amazon India has announced the company’s flagship Kindle eReader – Kindle Oasis in India at a price tag of Rs. 23,999 for the Wi-Fi variant while the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant costs Rs. 27,999 respectively. It comes in Black colour with leather covers in black, merit or walnut finish and available for order from Amazon.in & ships starts from April 27th. It is currently costliest eReader available in market.
Commenting on the launch, Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO, said:
“To lean back and read for hours, you need a sanctuary from distraction. We want Kindle to disappear, and Kindle Oasis is the next big step in that mission. It’s the most advanced Kindle we’ve ever built—thin and ultra-lightweight, it gets out of the way so you can lose yourself in the author’s world.”
This the 8th generation e-Ink Kindle which has a redesigned built-in front light with 60% ore LEDs that makes it the brightest Kindle display ever. It features 6-inch display at 300 PPI pixel density and there is ultrathin flush 0.13” display with 200 micron backplane has new cylindrical diffractive patterns to increase the consistency and range of screen brightness for improved reading in all types of lighting.
It has 4GB of storage.
It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support.
It is also available in 3G version with all these features in addition to built-in 3G and EDGE/GPRS support.
It has dual-battery system and as soon as you connect the cover to Kindle Oasis, the battery in the cover begins recharging Kindle Oasis automatically. Above all, it also comes bundled with a leather charging cover which promises months of battery life & attaches to the Kindle securely using Twelve magnets. Without the cover it promises eight weeks of battery life (wireless off). It also has a new hibernation mode that minimizes power consumption when your Kindle is inactive.
It is also the thinnest and lightest Kindle with the thinnest point at just 3.4mm (to 8.5mm) and weighs just 131 grams.
The Kindle Oasis has a new design with hand grip and it has a physical page that turn buttons to comfortably turn the page. There is built-in accelerometer which automatically rotates the orientation to match if you are using it on the left or right hand side.
