The winner of the ‘Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at Mobile World Congress 2013’ is announced – and the winner is HTC One. HTC’s newest launched HTC One won the final award of the 18th Annual Global Mobile Award, the award recognises the mobile device that the judges believe holds the most promise for success in the market this year, providing game-changing features, design or functionality. Sony’s impressive new Xperia Z smartphone came in a close second.
With its sleek design, revolutionary home screen experience, superior audio and breakthrough camera technology, the new HTC One has made a significant impact at this year’s Mobile World Congress, impressing judges and delegates alike. HTC revealed the award-winning HTC One the week before in NYC and London, and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S IV passed on the event and will be announced March 14th in New York City.
Benjamin Ho, Chief Marketing Officer for HTC accepted the award commenting, “We are delighted by the reactions from both consumers and the industry to the new HTC One. Samsung Galaxy S III named the best smartphone of 2012, beating out the likes of the Apple iPhone 5, Nokia’s Lumia 920, and HTC’s Droid. Google’s Asus-built Nexus 7 scooping the award for Best Tablet of 2012, another upset for the Apple as the iPad missed out too. Best Mobile App for Consumers, which went to Facebook.
