HTC has announced the company’s latest smartphone – HTC Butterfly 2 for the Asian markets. Although it was unveiled for Japan’s KDDI as J Butterfly (HLT23) last month. The HTC Butterfly 2 will be available in Red, White and Blue color variants and would go on sale in Taiwan starting September 2nd. HTC would also launch the smartphone in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand soon.
Commenting on the launch, Peter Chou, CEO, HTC, said,

On the specifications front, it has 5-inch Full HD Super LCD 3 display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it is powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor which is paired with Adreno 330GPU. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 128GB using microSD card.
On the imaging front, it has 13- megapixel rear-camera with dual LED flash, f/2.0, 28mm lens and duo camera arrangement, where the 2-megapixel camera captures the depth information. It has the same 5-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor, 1080p Full HD video recording.
It has connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec, NFC and GPS with GLONASS.
It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense UI on top and packs 2700mAh battery.
It comes with a IPX5/IPX7 for dust and water resistance and infrared LED for remote control. It features Dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers which HTC has been using in all its handsets. HTC has tied up with HARMAN for JBL LiveStage Signal Processing Technology for better audio output. It comes bundled with exclusively designed JBL in-ear-headphones in Japan. With such specifications the phone compete with top tier devices including Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G Pro 2, LG G3, HTC One (M8), Sony Xperia Z2 and others.
