Google Maps is now available on the iPad as well. Update 2.0 to Google Maps for iOS has arrived with a custom iPad interface. Google has begun rolling out version 2.0 of Google Maps for iOS. Google Maps 2.0 brings enhanced navigation with live traffic updates and incident reports, along with indoor maps for malls, transit stations, and airports, according to Google.
Version 2.0 hides all the controls and just keeps the search bar in the top left corner with the similar UI to the one on the new web version and the Android app.
