Gionee has officially launched the Pioneer P2S in India at an initial price tag of INR 6,499 and it is available in Black, Blue, White, Yellow and Red colours. Although in earlier post we shared that it went on sale in India via online retailer eBay. It is a Colourful, Stylish & Slim smartphone that comes with lot of exciting features. It is an ideal smartphone for first time buyers with limited budget and if you do not know, it is an upgraded version of Gionee Pioneer P2. Gionee Pioneer P2S is the new entry in the sub 8000 range and it will compete with recently announced smartphones like Motorola Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106, Lava Iris X1, Xolo A500S and Lumia 520 that was announced last year.
On the specifications front, it has 4-inch WVGA display with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and it is powered by 1.3GHz dual-core processor with Mali 400 GPU. It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB in-built memory which can be expanded further to 32GB via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it has 5MP rear-camera with LED flash and 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera. It also has a new V-gesture shot that lets you capture selfies without touching the phone and take continuous shots of animals, people in action as well as full panoramic shots of great scenes, 99 snaps in one click, Smile Shot and HD video recording.
Gionee Pioneer P2S runs on advanced version of Android4.2 Jelly Bean and comes with a specially designed Music player. If Gionee has to compete with Motorola Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106, Lava Iris X1 and Xolo A500S in sub-8000 range, then it should run on the latest Android KitKat version.
It has Dual SIM (2G + 3G) support with Dual standby and it has usual connectivity options like 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. It packs 1,600mAh battery and provides a good amount of talk time.
