Barnes & Noble has unveiled the company’s first waterproof version of Nook e-reader – GlowLight Plus at a price tag of US $129.99. It is available only at Barnes & Noble stores and online at Nook.com starting today. Apart from being waterproof, it is also dustproof.
The e-reader comes with advanced E Ink display and built-in ambient light sensor. It has sleek & textured white border and a bronze-coloured aluminium back. If you do not know, the GlowLight Plus gets an upgrade from the first version and features 300 ppi display which is similar to the recently launched Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. On the specifications front, it has 6-inch high-resolution with built-in glee, scratch and fingerprint-resistant lens which claims to provide a paper-like reading experience.
It measures 163.6 x 119.6 x 8.6 mm and weighs 195 grams. With a single charge it works up to six weeks and it has 4GB memory, 2.5GB for NOOK Store content & side-loaded content which means it can hold thousands of books. It has connectivity features like Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and supports text file type including ePub and PDF while JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP for Graphic files.
