Asus has launched the Fonepad 7 FE170CG tablet in India at an initial price tag of Rs. 8,999. It is available in Black, White, Red & Blue colours. At such a price range it will compete with Lava IvoryS, Swipe MTV Slash 4X, Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT712 and recently launched Acer Iconia A1-713. Originally it was unveiled at the Zenfone launch event in India last month.
On the specifications front, it packs 7-inch WSVGA display with resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels & has pixel density of 169ppi and it is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. It has 1GB RAM, and comes in 4GB and 8GB variants, memory can be expanded further up to 64GB via mciroSD card. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly bean with ZenUI, upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat.
On the imaging front, it has 2-megapixel rear-camera and 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Miracast and GPS/A-GPS
The tablet measures 192×110.8×10.7mm and weighs 290 grams. It offers 10 hours of battery life.
Asus also offering 5GB on Asus Webstorage cloud space for lifetime and an additional 11GB for the first year.
