Apple Inc. is all set to launch its latest tablets iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display in India, both the tablets will be available in India starting this weekend, from December 7. Ingram Micro, Apple’s authorised distribution partner has announced the news via a press release.
The 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad Air model will be available for Rs. 35,900 and the 16GB Wi-Fi only variant of iPad mini with Retina display will be available for Rs. 28,900. Apple has not announced the prices of the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants as well as the 4G-enabled models of iPad Air and iPad mini with retina display as of now.
Apple has already started advertising the new iPad Air that how thin the iPad Air is as compared to the earlier models.The tablet is 20% thinner, 28% lighter and has 43% smaller bezels than last year’s iPad 4. The iPad Air features a 9.7-inch Retina display, weighs 453 grams and it is 7.5mm thick. The tablet runs on 64-bit A7 chip and the M7 motion co-processor that was introduced recently with the iPhone 5S.
The Retina iPad mini – upgraded version on first iPad mini features a 7.9-inch retina display that has twice the screen resolution than the first model. It also runs on the 64-bit A7 chipset.
Both the tablets promises up-to 10-hour battery life. The iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display coming to India soon after Google launched its 2nd-generation new Nexus 7 tablet in the country. The new Nexus 7 is priced at Rs 20,999 for the 16GB variant. Not a bad competition at all!
