Samsung’s Tizen-Powered Z1 Touches Sales of 1 Million Units In India

Samsung India has sold 1 million Tizen-powered Samsung Z1 smartphones in India since its launch in January 2015. The easy to use smartphone ws developed keeping unique needs of Indian consumers and these new device addresses key barriers to smartphone upgrade, including short battery life & complicated user interface.

Mr. Asim Warsi, Vice-President-Marketing, Mobile and IT, Samsung India, said,

“Our insights have shown that consumers hesitate to move beyond the familiar basic and simple interaction with their mobile devices. Keeping this in mind, Samsung Z1 features an easy to use UI that offers a smooth and fast experience to ensure a seamless migration to smartphones. Samsung Z1 combines a great feature set along with a rapidly growing app ecosystem to offer consumers a differentiated Smartphone experience. We are happy to see the response the device has received and will continue to grow the range for Tizen- powered smartphones.”

Samsung Z1 is specifically designed to attract millions of users who are migrating from or using feature phones in India. Similarly, Samsung Televisions, camera & Samsung wearable devices are build on Tizen platform. The Samsung Z1 delivers a faster boot time and enhanced web performance to offer users faster page loading time with decreased data usage. The Samsung Z2 also features “Ultra Power Saving Mode” to ensure users can enjoy an uninterrupted Smartphone experience and stay connected, even at minimal battery levels.

The software and user interface of Tizen platform has been developed at Samsung’s Bangalore R&D lab and the Z1 smartphones are manufactured in the Noida facility.
