Rightware launched the Basemark OS II cross-platform benchmarking tool for Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 8. Base and you can download it for free from Google Play Store, iTunes Store and Windows Phone store . Benchmark OS II built on Rightware’s own engine (BOS2Engine) and it include system tests, memory tests, permanent storage reading/writing, 2D/3D graphics rendering and web browser.
According to a press release, Teemu Uotila, Director of Benchmark Unit of Rightware, said,
We are immensely proud in advancing the general public’s understanding of the performance differences of the modern smartphones. This launch marks a major milestone since it is the first trusted performance gauge that enables true cross-platform overall performance comparisons. One of the exciting and unique features is a camera speed test. We don’t know of any other such a test in publicly available product in the world.
The benchmark features a large amount of tests, stressing every aspect of a smartphone and tablet in running applications. Tests are grouped to:
- System tests
- Memory tests
- Graphics tests
- Web tests
- Extra tests, including battery test and camera test by Sofica
The Battery Performance and External Storage tests are available only in paid full version.
