[How-To Guide] Root HTC X+ On Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

HTC X+ is the newest device announced by HTC and the users who own this device might be thinking to root it. As after rooting the device, it gives you number of features that comes with new OS. Below you can find the detailed guide which helps you to root HTC X+.

Getting Started with Rooting HTC X+:

  • First of all you need to unlock bootloader – to do this, go to http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader and create a new user account with the device information.
  • Now after submitting your information you have to download RootBootV4
  • Download Fastboot files
  • Download chainfire tool

After downloading all these files (mentioned above) you are ready to go

Steps to unlock the bootloader:

  • Create a new folder name Fastboot in C: Drive in the computer and extract folder content to your PC using suitable software(winrar or 7zip).
  • Go to www.htcdev.com/bootloader and select “All other supported models” and “then begin unlock bootloader” and tick both the box and click “Proceed”.
  • Now hold power button down to power off the device for 5-7 seconds.
  • Hold Volume down button to boot the device in HBOOT mode.
  • Now boot the device in Fastboot mode by volume + or – then press power button once. {Device will enter into fastboot mode}.
  • Connect phone with the PC and open command prompt.  Type “cd” to locate the Fastboot files cd c:\fastboot.
  • Now, type Fastboot oem get_identifer_token in the command prompt and copy paste identifier token in the box and click “submit”.
  • After submitting the token, user will receive an email for HTC containing information about second part of the instruction with “Unlock_code.bin” file as attachment.
  • Download “Unlock_code.bin” and save it to the same Fastboot folder.
  • Now, type “Fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin” and hit enter.
  • After doing the second last step, the display of device will change. User need to press Volume+ and Power button to confirm.
  • All done! The device is now successfully unlocked bootloader.

Rooting with SuperSu:

  • Download latest recovery  “WAIT FOR RECOVERY TO BE FIXED” and save it to the Fastboot folder and rename it to “recovery.img”
  • Now transfer the downloaded chainfire in the ROOT folder of the device.
  • Connect the device with the PC and put in “USB Debugging mode”.
  • Open command prompt and type “cd” to locate Fastboot folder.
  • Now type:

adb reboot bootloader

  • After rebooting the device in Fastboot mode type:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

  • Now, scroll down the screen and select HBOOT mode using the power button.
  • In the HBOOT scroll down to recovery and the device will reboot in CWM mode.
  • Once device will boot in CWM, navigate to “install zip from sdcard” then “choose zip from sdcard”.
  • Scroll down and select SuperSU zip file and click “YES”.
  • Once done, just reboot the device and Enjoy!
