Huawei under its Honor brand launched the company’s latest smartphone – Honor 5C in India at a price tag of Rs. 10,999. It is available on Flipkart and the smartphone is good only on paper. Already in previous post I shared few alternatives and in this price segment, LeEco Le 2, Motorola Moto G4, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 & few other are better options. In this post I’m sharing the issues and problems with Honor 5C smartphone.
Display: The Huawei Honor 5C features 5.2-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Issues:
a) The screen is not clearly visible in direct sunlight
a) if you like watching videos on your smartphone, then this is not the smartphone you are looking for.
c) It doesn’t come with Gorilla Glass, DragonTrail protection, etc.
Processor: The Huawei Honor 5C is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 650 processor which is paired with Mali-T880MP2 GPU.
Issues:
a) At this price point, the Huawei Honor 5C should come with at least Mali-MP3 variant but it comes with Mali-Mp2 variant. The Mali-Mp2 variant usually comes with cheapest Android devices. I didn’t want to say that, it makes your device laggy or user experience a buggy one but over the time, the device will definitely start lagging after a certain time period.
b) The Huawei Honor 5C has heating issues and you can easily feel them while playing games. The heating issues are not visible under normal use.
Memory: The Huawei Honor 5C comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB in-built memory which can be expanded further up to 128GB via microSD card.
Issues:
a) The Huawei Honor 5C features 2GB RAM and out of 2GB only 500MB is left for the user on first boot. When it comes to playing games, only a mere 500MB is less. Just a thought, how much pressure it create on processor to run the large size app.
b) The Huawei Honor 5C comes with Hybrid SIM card slot, which means either you can use two sims at a time or a single SIM & microSD card. it doesn’t have the dedicated microSD card slot and it has to be shared with the SIM card slot. It means you have to compromise here.
Operating System: The Huawei Honor 5C runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Emotion UI 4.1 on top of it.
Issues:
a) There are no dedicated navigation touch button below the screen and it has on-screen buttons which are placed on the display itself. The on-screen button uses the real estate of the screen.
Connectivity/Sensors: The Huawei Honor 5C has connectivity features like 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, A-GPS, GLONASS, with Google Maps. It has sensors like accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, digital compass, fingerprint sensor.
Issues:
a) There is no infrared sensor for IR Blaster and this feature helps in wireless remote control of televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.
b) There is no NFC and when you look at other smartphones, the cheaper ones have this feature.
Battery: The Huawei Honor 5C packs 3000mAh battery.
Issues:
a) The Huawei Honor 5C does not support fast charging technology. Already there are many other smartphone that supports quick charge technology, they are much cheaper when compared with Huawei Honor 5C.
