In an event in San Francisco, Google has unveiled the much awaited – Pixel & Pixel XL smartphone. The phones will be available for pre-order in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany and Australia starting from today. Google also announced that, the Pixel & Pixel XL will be available for pre-order in India starting from October 13th, 2016 on Flipkart and over 1000 organized multi-band retail stores with leading retail partners including Reliance Digital, Croma and Vijay sales among others. In addition to this, Google is also offering interest free EMI programs and upgrade offers. Both the smartphone comes in quite Black & Very Silver colour. The Google Pixel 32GB variant costs Rs. 57,000 while the 128GB variant costs Rs. 66,000. The Google Pixel XL 32GB variant costs Rs. 67,000 while the 128GB variant costs Rs. 76,000.
On the specifications front, the Pixel has 5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs 2,770mAh battery while the Pixel XL has 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and packs 3450mAh battery. Both the smartphone are powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM. Both the smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and comes in two storage options – 32GB & 128GB.
On the photography front, both the smartphone has 12.3-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash and 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie. The company claims the Google Pixel has the best smartphone camera with a DxOMark score of 89, even surpassing the Apple iPhone 7. The smartphone comes with modes like HDR+ and Smartbust. It supports video recording in 4K resolution, and video stabilization. Google is offering unlimited photo and video storage on Google Photos in their original quality.
On both the smartphone, there is a fingerprint sensor at the back.
Both the smartphone has connectivity features like 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac MIMO (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C
The Pixel users will have access to a toll free phone support number along with 54 walk-in service centres across more than 30 cities in India.
India is among the first six countries where Pixel is being launched.
Google Pixel smartphones are the first devices that comes wth Google Assistant, voice-based digital assistant. Successor to Google Now, Google Assistant is smarter, allowing users to perform multiple tasks trough voice commands and it also supports contextual search. The Pixel smartphones comes preloaded with Google’s new video-messaging app, Duo.
