Many have been waiting all morning to install BBM for iOS or BBM for Android, but it seems we all have to wait for some more time. BlackBerry has put up official messages on Facebook and Twitter asking for everyone’s patience to get the official BBM apps for iOS and Android. According to Blackberry as said earlier, the app should have launched yesterday for Android and today for iOS.
BlackBerry delays the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone after an unreleased version of the Android app was posted online, this unreleased version caused issues. According to BlackBerry in a blog post, “Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. More than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day. Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM.” The company did not specify what the issues were. These issues have not impacted BBM service for BlackBerry.
Earlier this, BBM for iPhone released in some countries and was available as a free download in the iTunes App stores. But, it seems BlackBerry has pulled off the download link for iOS BBM from iTunes. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled.
“As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone,” the company said in a release.
We are hoping that the official app itself will soon in the Google Play Store, and in more locations for iTunes. If you are one of the many eagerly awaiting the official BBM app, be careful of what you download as there are a lot of fake BBM apps kicking around on the Play Store. The official BBM app for Android and iPhone would be released under Blackberry Limited so look for that under the developer name. Keep in mind that the real BBM app is not going to spell BlackBerry without that second capitalized “B”.
We will keep you inform if any further information and official words from the BlackBerry about ‘BBM for all’ will released.
