BBM for Android and iOS Coming This Weekend, Arrives for Android this Saturday and for iOS on Sunday

Its official now! BlackBerry has announced that BBM for Android and iOS will be available this weekend. The long-awaited  cross-platform versions of BlackBerry’s BBM is all set to roll-out on your Android and iOS. BBM for Android and iOS will release around the world on 21 September and 22 September, respectively. BlackBerry Messenger apps for Android and iOS will be available for download at the respective app stores.

According to official words from the company, “That’s right BBM fans – the iconic mobile social network will begin rolling out for Android and iPhone customers around the world from September 21. As you may know BBM was previously exclusive to BlackBerry smartphones, and it will be available as a free download in Google Play and the App Store.”

BBM application will offer many features to Android and iOS users as BlackBerry users does. Soon, you’ll be able to easily connect with friends on different platforms. The messaging client will feature BBM Chat, including group chats for up to 30 people, and a unique PIN for maintaining privacy, among other things. BBM for Android and iOS will offer features such as delivery, read, and typing notifications. It also lets users share files, images, and voice notes.

Key Features of BBM application For Android and iOS

According to BlackBerry, its BBM Channels feature will be made available on iOS and Android in the near future.  In addition, BBM Video calling and BBM Voice calling are planned for availability for Android and iPhone in a future version.

The company has confirmed that the Android BBM app will be available as a free download for Android smartphones running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean beginning at 7AM EDT on September 21.  BBM for iPhone will also be available on the app store as a free download for smartphones running iOS 6 and iOS 7, schedule of 12:01 AM local time on September 22.
