Apple has announced it’s newest mobile OS, iOS 7, at WWDC keynote in San Francisco. The newly introduced Apple mobile OS offers a radical new look and some first-for-Apple features for iPhone and iPad fans. iOS 7 is almost entirely different from the versions that came before.
iOS 7 is coming this fall, Apple confirms nothing more than this about the release date. As of today, it’s available to developers who can take advantage of more than 1,500 iOS 7-friendly APIs. Iit’s not good news if you’re not a developer. The full public release comes to your iPhone and iPad this fall (with no precise date). It’s now available in beta for iPhone developers as of today, and will be coming to the iPad in the ‘coming weeks’.
Not every Apple device is going to be iOS 7-compatible. The new system will be available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, the iPad 2, iPad third and fourth generation, the iPad mini and the iPod touch fifth generation, likely due to some of the more powerful needs of the new OS.
Compared to the devices capable of running the last OS version (iOS 6), this leaves out the iPhone 3GS and the fourth-generation iPod Touch.
Furthermore, not all iOS 7 features will work with all of the aforementioned devices. The file-sharing service AirDrop, for example, will work only on the iPhone 5, the fifth-generation iPod Touch, the fourth-generation iPad, and the iPad Mini.
