Amazon Announces Fire TV Stick For $39, To Compete With Google Chromecast

Amazon has announced the company’s first HDMI streaming stick – Amazon Fire TV Stick at a price tag of $39. It is available for pre-order starting today and will ship from November 19. If you are Amazon Prime Members, you will get the stick for $19 for the next two days. It comes with most of the features and it is much cheaper when compared with Amazon Fire TV, which coasts $99. The voice remote is available for $29.99. It is touted as a competitor of Google Chromecast stick.

On the specifications front, Amazon Fire TV has 4 times the storage and two times the memory when compared with Google Chromecast. It is powered by dual-core processor has 1GB of memory. It connects to the HDMI port on HDTV and uses USB port for Power, similar to Chromecast so that you can stream content such as movies, TV shows, music, photos, apps and games from Amazon content library, mirror your phone or a tablet and automatically upload photos or videos to Amazon Cloud Drive.

It can also be used to play games from the Amazon Store which has a catalog of over 200 games. It support Amazon Fire Game Controller and is compatible with Nyko PlayPad Pro and other Bluetooth controllers. It has 50% more processing power, 2x the memory and has Dual band/Dual antenna (MIMO) compared to Google Chromecast.
