Samsung has launched the Galaxy S5 smartphone in India. Samsung India Country Head Vineet Taneja along with model actress Freida Pinto unveiled the flagship smartphone for the Indian market. With Galaxy S5, Samsung goes back to basics to deliver what matters most. Samsung Galaxy S5 has a bigger display, better camera and battery. Unfortunately the exact price to be revealed later, but the Samsung India confirms a 11 April 2014 release date. The company has said however, that the Galaxy S5 will be priced between Rs. 51,000 and Rs. 53,000. The Galaxy S5 is available for pre-orders through the Samsung India online store or select retailers. Samsung has also launched a host of new wearables – Samsung Gear2, GearNeo, GearFit with GALAXY S5.

Samsung Galaxy S5 launched in IndiaSamsung India Country head confirmed that the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) would be powered by an Octa-Core Exynos processor in India as expected, similar to the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung has also confirmed the octa-core variant in India will only offer 3G connectivity, and no 4G like the Snapdragon 801-powered smartphone. The company said it may launch the 4G-variant once networks mature in India.

The three new features in Galaxy S5 by Samsung includes finger-print scanner on the home button, a heart-rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel camera and the new body that is IP67 certified water and dust proof.

Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inche super AmoLED display with a 1080×1920 pixel full-HD resolution. It packs a 16MP camera with selective focus and HDR technology, camera offers world’s fastest autofocus speed of up to 0.3 sec. It also packs a 2MP front camera. The smartphone is powered a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz) processor with  2GB RAM and ARM Mali T628 MP6 GPU. The Samsung GALAXYS5 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. The device has a 2800mAh battery, rated to deliver 21 hours of talktime, and 390 hours of standby time. It will be available in 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage models, with microSD card expandability up to 64GB.

On the connectivity side it includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO functionality, ANT+, Bluetooth 4.0, USB3.0, NFC, and Infrared remote functionality. Samsung Galaxy S5 is IP67 dust and water resistant & comes with finger scanner & ultra power saving mode and Kids mode. In India Samsung GALAXY S5 to be priced between Rs 51000 to 53000 and will be available in 4 colors  – black, white, blue and gold along with optional designer back panels. It will be available in the market from April 11. The Galaxy Gear 2 is priced at Rs 21900, the Gear Fit and Gear 2 Neo are priced at Rs 15900. GALAXYS5 will be compatible with Samsung Gear Fit, which is the Super AMOLED health-focused wristband.
