MakeMyTrip has crossed the 10-million download mark and it is the first Indian OTA to reach this milestone. MakeMyTrip apps are available on Android, iPhone and Windows and you can download it from Google Play Store, App Store and Windows Phone Store respectively. A new updated version is launched which includes new interface & seamless customer expeirence on Android and smoother search experience & relevant searches in spotlight as well as Touch ID basd login on iOS. Above all, MakeMyTrip also launches new app referral program integrated with the MakeMyTrip wallet.
Speaking on this achievement, Rajesh Magow, CEO-India, MakeMyTrip.com said,
“Mobile has clearly become the preferred device for Indian travellers – we see that in terms of both traffic and bookings contributed by the channel. Traffic from mobile apps has grown 250-300% year- on-year in the past couple of years. Unique visitors from mobile apps stood at 20% in 2013, 33% in 2014, and will soon reach the half-way mark. The number of hotel-transactions through mobile is already at par with desktop-transactions. There is tremendous opportunity for customer engagement and brand building using this platform.”
Elaborating on the recent app enhancements, Anshuman Bapna, Chief Product Officer, MakeMyTrip.com said,
“Technology–based innovations form the core of our pursuit of making travel-buying and post-purchase experience enjoyable and seamless. To this end, our new product-enhancements and features are being developed with a ‘mobile-first’ approach. We were among the only two OTAs in the world to launch an iOS9-compatbile app release on the day the OS became live. Enhancements to the Android app have also resulted in top-rankings on the platform this month. Speaking on customer-response to mobile initiatives Rajesh added,
“In the last quarter, domestic hotel transactions on mobile grew by 200%. Mobile makes up almost half of all domestic hotel transactions on MakeMyTrip. With mobile becoming the fastest-growing distribution channel, it will also be the key driver for growth and new customer-acquisition. We have already seen that happen with our business — 6-month cumulative same-device repeat rate for customers acquired through mobile app is 24% higher than for customers acquired through desktop, while any-device repeat-rate for these customers is 54% higher. Customer-response to our app with over 10 million downloads is a testimony to the user-experience we have been able to deliver on this platform.”
