Gionee has just launched the world’s slimmest smartphone, Gionee Elife S5.5 in the Indian market for the price of Rs. 22,999. Gionee Elife S5.5 was announced last month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The phone is launched in India at an event in Goa and will be available starting April 27. Clearly, the thinness factor is the highlight of the phone. Gionee Elife S5.5, as the name suggests, is barely 5.5 mm thick having a sleek metal frame and weighs 130 grams. Boasting a thickness of only 5.5mm, Gionee’s smartphone beat the previous record holder Vivo X3, which has a thickness of 5.75mm.
Gionee Elife S5.5 features 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED touch screen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor and 2GB RAM. Gionee S5.5 comes with 16GB internal storage and doesn’t include a microSD card slot. Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with a 13 MP auto focus rear camera with stacked Sony sensor and LED flash. It also sports a a 5MP 95 degree ultra-wide angle front-facing camera.
Gionee Elife S5.5 is a single-sim phone, runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Gionee’s Amigo UI running on top. It packs a 2,300mAh battery. On the connectivity side it includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
Other than the lack of an expandable memory card slot and the older Android version, Gionee Elife S5.5 definitely bosts of some great power under that slim and sleek body.
