Just now, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S5 and it looks like previous generations. Although there are number of new features but when compared with Samsung Galaxy S4, it is worth to upgrade? In this post I’m comparing Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution whereas the Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 5.0-inch which is equivalent and has the same specs. When compared, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is larger than S4 and it measures 142 x 72.5mm face-on while the S4 is 136.6 x 69.8mm. The S5 is also slightly thicker at 8.1mm to 7.9mm but that’s so slight as not to be noticeable. The weight comparison is 145g to 130g with the SGS4 naturally being lighter. The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with plastic rear casing and SGS5 has IP67 proofing, so can be submerged in water down to one metre in depth and is totally resistant to dust.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 powered by 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor whereas the Galaxy S5 powered by 2.5Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a fingerprint sensor under the home button on the front of the phone whereas the SGS4 doesn’t have. Some apps, such as PayPal, can use the sensor to validate payments, etc. In addition to this, the sensor in SGS5 is used to measure heart rate for fitness application use whereas the SGS4 uses S Health software, the new S Health 3.0 uses the in-built Galaxy S5 sensor that sits on the back of the phone and can accurately check your current status.
The Galaxy S5 gas a 16-megapixel rear camera whereas the Galaxy S4 has 13-megapixel rear camera. Improved auto focus time of just 0.3 seconds, selective focus allows you to shoot an item in the foreground and then refocus to another point after the shot has been taken. The SGS5 is also capable of 4K video recording (3840 x 2160) whereas the Samsung Galaxy S4 does not have.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy S5 screen is tweaked to provide better user experience & performance when compared with Samsung Galaxy S4. In addition to this, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is slightly larger when compared with Samsung Galaxy S4. If you are planning to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5, then you are not getting anything extra, apart from screen and standout features such as Download Booster. It’s suggested do not upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S5 and stick with Samsung Galaxy S4.
