Chinese handset vendor, Alcatel has launched the One Touch Idol X+ smartphone in India in an exclusive partnership with Flipkart and it is available at an initial price tag of INR 16,999. It is available in Bluish Black and White Colours and the handset bundled with Bluetooth wristband called Boom Band & it acts as a proximity alarm and activity tracker and JBL headphones. Like Motorola’s smartphone – Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, this smartphone also available exclusively through Flipkart.

On the specifications front, the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ features a 5-inch full HD display with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 440 ppi and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 & Oleophobic coating. It is powered by 2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6592 Octa-Core processor coupled with Mali-450MP4 GPU and paired with 2GB of RAM. In terms of storage space, it has 16/32GB of internal memory but lacks an external memory support via microSD card.
On the imaging front, it sports a 13.0MP rear-camera with LED flash & aperture of f/2.0, the rear-camera is capable of recording 1080p videos and 2MP front-facing camera. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, Wi-Fi, GPS/aGPS and FM radio.
It packs 2,500mAh battery which claims to last up to 16 hours of talktime on 3G network and 27 hours of 2G talktime & about 650 hours of standby time on 2G. It has dual SIM support with dual standby.
Boom Band is a waterproof activity tracker that monitors your physical/sleep activity and even acts as a proximity alarm, so if you leave your connected phone behind,the Boomband will inform you. The device can also remind the users of the incoming calls on their connected smartphone. It works with smartphones running on Android 4.3+ and include Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The data collected from the device is shown on the Boomband Life app, which is available rom Alcatel One Touch website.
At this price point and with these specifications, the smartphone would compete with the Micromax Canvas Knight A350 that was launched earlier this year and the recently launched Panasonic P81. Apart from Micomax and Panasonic, it will also be up against Intex Aqua Octa, Karbonn Titanium Octane and iBerry Nuclea X.
